$15 and a Union
"Hold the burgers, hold the fries, make our wages supersize" shouts Shermale Humphrey into a megaphone, as she leads a group of fast-food workers protesting for better wages on Thursday, May 15, 2014, inside McDonald's on Tucker Blvd. "I have to stand up myself because no one else will. I need $15 an hour and a union," said Humphrey, who has worked in fast-food industry for four years. The group protested inside for about 10 minutes before continuing to protest outside the business. Fast-food workers in St. Louis joined another round of protests this morning, part of a network of actions planned for more than 150 cities.
