The details of the encounter on August 9, 2014, may remain forever in dispute. That's when a white police officer, Darren Wilson, encountered Michael Brown and a friend walking down the middle of the street. Minutes later, the unarmed 18-year-old was dead from gunshot wounds, conflicting claims began to be aired, and a serious and sometimes violent nationwide reckoning would begin. The topic was how African-American communities are policed, and on a deeper level, how racism, bias and hate continue to convulse American society. Here are my images of uprising and unrest.
